Summer State of Mind

purelyinspired writing journal

Summer is on route and this year we’ve never been more excited for the season. Now is the time to implement a few strategies so you can spend less time planning, and more time summering.

Refresh Your Menu

Heat up the grill. Barbeque season is upon us and done right makes it so much easier to stick to a clean mealplan. Grilled meat, fish and veggies melt in your mouth when seasoned with delicious marinades. And weekend trips to the Farmer’s Market are always a motivator to cook up healthy meals in your kitchen. This time of year is also perfect for experimenting with new mocktail and healthier dessert recipes. Here is a must try recipe:

Rethink Your Fitness

If getting to the gym has begun to feel like a grind, it’s the perfect time to switch things up and take fitness outside. Start your day with a jog, bike ride or brisk walk or find a happy place to do a bodyweight workout. The beach, a playground or your own backyard will have workouts feeling fresh again. Don’t forget to celebrate your inner child too. There’s recently been a resurgence of skateboards, scooters and old-school roller skates. Do what makes you feel good, at any age.

Self-Care Strategies

I think we can all agree that after the year we’ve had, we’re going to enjoy this summer to the max. To make that happen, a vacation, staycation or some strategically scheduled self-care time is definitely in order. Check out your local bookstore for the hottest celebrity memoir. Book a spa day for some head-to-toe pampering. Don’t forget about hangin’ with your besties, in fact, we insist.

Those Feel-Good Vibes

There’s no time like the present for a quick attitude check. Have you had a “cup half empty” mentality recently? Don’t feel bad because you’re not alone. Now’s the chance to start fresh with a “positive-vibes only” mindset. Why not start each day by practicing gratitude in a journal? When you’re out for a walk, really take the opportunity to connect with nature. Or pay the positivity forward by telling family and friends what they mean to you (people love hearing that stuff). Soon enough you’ll always find yourself on the sunny side of the street.
